Ski For the Pass is a 7K classic race/tour from the winter closure gate east of Aspen on Highway 82 to the turnoff for Lincoln Creek Rd. It is the only day of the year that this closed section of Highway 82 is groomed for classic cross country skiing. The race is part of Aspen Cup Nordic Series. The Ski is a benefit for Independence Pass Foundation.
A warming area at the finish and gear shuttle will be provided for participants, along with an aid station at Weller. The race will be timed, but many people participate non-competitively.
Online Registration: Registration is limited to 90 participants (per the USFS permit) and is available starting 6pm 1/10/24 until 3pm 2/02/24. There is no in-person registration or registration available after 3pm 2/02/24.
Cost: $15/adults and $7.50/under 18
Bib Pickup: Bibs will be available for pick up at the Ute Mountaineer from 10am-5pm on Saturday, February 3rd and at the race start from 9-10am.
Start Times: 10am mass start
Aid Stations: There will be fluids available at Weller Lake trailhead and the finish (and some energy bars at the finish).
Gear Shuttle: A gear shuttle will be provided to the finish line. Please plan to self-support yourself in any case - this is a backcountry event so please prepare for it accordingly.
