Join Aspen Historical Society to experience skiing’s illustrious past in the Aspen/Snowmass area. This community film series will feature a wide range of vintage films from the Aspen Historical Society collection that were recently digitized and being shown for the first time on the big screen! Spanning several decades, the visual histories bring retro skiing to life! Food and beverage specials offered at the Limelight bar may be enjoyed during the screenings.

The Beginning of a Love Affair (1976) (22 minutes) Produced by Freewheelin’ Films, this short film tells the story of two pre-teens who fall in love on vacation in Aspen. It stars Kurt Brendlinger, Gilian Handleman, Skip Behrhorst, and Andy Mill, among others. The young couple stays at the Gant, ski on Aspen Mountain, and explore town. Scenes include Wintersköl, the Roch Cup, NASTAR, and nightlife.
Video Postcard; Aspen Snowmass (1987) (24 minutes) This souvenir video includes footage of skiing and snowboarding, special events, the town, historical elements, and various scenic shots. Featured footage includes Andy Mill skiing powder, KiKi Cutter and Christin Cooper in a benefit race, the Annual Peace Officer’s Race, the Crystal Palace, the Highlands Patrol Jump at Cloud Nine, and more. The film is directed by Greg Poschman and is narrated by John Dietsch and Christie Davis.
